last night, rachel and jenna called me at about 2:00, to giggle and make silly noises into the phone, and as i was hanging up, i discovered a tick on myself. i didn't know it was a tick until i pulled it up to my eyes to examine it. once i realized what it was, i FROZE! and then i threw it on the bed and cut it into 4 pieces with my scissors. it never occurred to me to cut a bug with scissors until just that moment. but what a crafty plan. i guess most bugs are probably too quick for scissors, though.

this concerned me, because i went camping FRIDAY and the tick was discovered TUESDAY. that's quite a window of time for the lil guy to suck my blood and give me lyme disease. stella tells me, though, that if it had given me lyme disease, it would have left a bullseye mark. stella has lyme disease. she's an expert on these sorts of things. and i don't think i have a bullseye, so hopefully, no lyme disease. plus, he just couldn't have been there this whole time. i really think i would have noticed him. also, i think it was a dog tick, not a deer tick. so really, there's no chance of lyme disease.

ticks. what punks.

oh man, my grandma edna is so funny. i got to play skipbo tonight with her and the parents and the singing aunt. dad was trying to wow her with the marvels of modern technology, so he pulled out his zip drive (which is like a little floppy disc, but hundreds and hundreds of times more info):

dad: (slow, drawn out, dramatic voice) this little device has everything i've done in the past 8 years at southtrust.

grandma edna: (making this face)

(expressing a sobered awe) ....i don't believe it is possible.

later, when dad was explaining earth.google.com to her, which has satellite images of the whole world (you can even see my house, and my brother's car parked in the driveway), she said this:

"why can't they take that thing and point and say 'find natalee's body?'"

old people.
